They promised a whole new game type, yet the structure (districts with control points, eg: AC & Far Cry) tells me this is a UbiSoft game even if I had never heard of it before. The game that was shown at that E3 is very different from the one that went on sale today. The footage was shown for exactly two reasons. When the game was shown, it was during a section of E3 all about next gen games and how amazingly stunning they were going to appear. This game was used as a specific example of what we could expect from a next gen game. However they did take their time with the game, and had a madman behind the helm. While there were some demos that were a much higher fidelity than the final game, the graphics style of the final game is pretty much perfect. The real game turned out to be much different than the demo.Ī pretty unique demo was bioshock infinite. There is a good documentary out there about halo 2 and bungie while they were preparing the demo. This includes things like deleting everything that won't be seen in the demo in order to increase framerate which allows them push graphics and fx into the game without thinking about weaker hardware, or the fact that the game is an open world. This forces them to use sub-optimal tactics to get the things into the game.

Look at watchdogs it took them a full 2 years to release the game, clearly they didn't have much at done at this time.Į3 is usually a really scary time for developers, and usually they will have a huge crunch time before the demo is due.
